Who am I? Who are you?
I came into musical consciousness when I heard the Beatles. It was in 1980 and I was a little boy. I became completely obsessed by them and listened to the A-Z of the Beatles (which I recorded to cassette on my dad's old school hi-fi system) so much that I now hear their songs in alphabetical order. They were the first of many artists that were to follow. I was the nerdy little dude who escaped into a world of fantasy and music in order to survive. I had to escape the bullies who teased me for looking scrappy and walking too fast. Thank god for them actually, otherwise maybe I wouldn't have sought refuge in music. But then, maybe I would have anyway, because certain sounds just turn my brain on. They make my head buzz. I have never had a single musical identity, even though there are elements that run through all of my projects, which you may hear if you are a discerning and curious listener. So, there have been certain themes that I have always returned to, hence the multiple projects.
Les Fabricants- Psychedelic power trio. Features my brother and musical soul mate, Jeremy and drummer/genius Dave Atkins (Resin Dogs/Wolfmother). Sounds like Fleur De Lys, The Creation, Zombies, late Beatles and all things psychedelic, the drone and the hallucinogenic quality of late 60's guitar music. I just can't get enough of it.
Mirko Polo - Melodies and dreamy atmospherics. FM radio songs. Pop. Moody. I grew up on these in the 80's. Love them to bits. I could sleep to Every Breath You Take by the Police, or Trouble by Lindsay Buckingham.
Deepspace - Ambient music. I love ambient music so much. If you don't know what I mean, listen to the Deepspace stuff. Have an open mind though. Maybe do something else while you listen to it, if you're not sure.
Pilot of the Future - I grew up with games. I love game music. Rob Hubbard rules. This is music for games that we loved as kids (Delta, Commando, Shogun, The Last Ninja, Mutants), by my brother Jeremy and I.
RedCrow - A project with three friends, Paul Brandon (my gaming soul mate!), Sarah Calderwood and Markus Karlsen. Americana, Folky.
Cousin Em - My earlier band, with another long time friend and partner in crime, Davin Patterson
