I grew up listening to FM radio.  Apart from the Beatles, who I worshipped, I was very attracted to songs with long melodies and a sense of magic and dreaminess.  10CC, Lindsay Buckingham, Motels, Split Enz and a few others had that dreamy 70's kind of feel, and that's what I wanted to capture with these songs.  A strange kind of dazed and unfocussed feel, with washed out harmonies and distant chiming guitars, and I think it may be some childhood memory or nostalgia that makes the sound so compelling for me.  Maybe you have a sound that comes back to haunt you? Anyway, it's a sound that keeps coming back to me, so much so that I needed to create a separate identity to bring these songs together.

 

"Quick Brown Fox" was recorded in 2013. The idea was to record a home video for every song.  In the end, the challenge became that I would only write songs that I would do a video for. 

 

"Balcony Songs" was recorded earlier in 2012 and is more varied with influences such as ELO, Jellyfish, Queen and Harry Nilsson.
